Everything as a Service (XaaS)- A cloud computing product

Everything as a service is a term used for the services and applications that are available on the internet for user access upon request. This is a new term in the technological domain and may seem unclear at first sight. The idea started with the terms associated with cloud computing like SaaS (Software-as-a-Service), PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service). These terms are associated with the concept that pre build software, its development platform, or an infrastructure for extensive computing could be provided via virtual networks. Similarly other services also came forward in order to join the network which ultimately lead to the designation as-a-Service. It is a concept to call up finely developed software products across a network.
Everything-as-a-Service is a subset of cloud computing.

What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is service delivery through the Internet. The deliverables include applications like data storage, servers, networking, databases and software. The primitive style of keeping files on a hard drive or local storage device, the cloud based storage makes it possible to save them on a remote database. With the help of these remote databases, as long as an electronic device is accessing the web, it has access to the data and software programs to run it.

Everything-as-a-Service Model has various services associated with it such as:-

  1. Hardware-as-a-Service (Haas):- Some of the hardware installed on the customers sites as per their demand by the managed service providers (MSP). It is a kind of pay-as-you-go model where computing resources are located on the MSP’s site and are provided to users as an alternative to physical hardware.
  2. Communication-as-a-Cost (CaaS)- This model carries within itself different communication models such as VoIP (voice over IP), video conference applications that are hosted on clouds. A company can keep their communication app on the cloud servers for a certain period and pay for their usages.

The other services include:-

  1. Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS)

2.  Security-as-a-Service (SaaS)

3. Healthcare-as-a-Service (HaaS)

4. Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS)

The benefits of XasS include:-

The various services provided via cloud computing are increasing its domain. The range of advantages they provide to both the organizations and the end users.

Some of the advantages includes:-

  1. Scalability
  2.  Cost- and time-effectiveness
  3.  Focus on core competencies
  4. The high quality of services
  5. Better customer experience.

Apart from all the advantages many consumers are still not sure enough in depending on cloud providers in order to lose control over their businesses. In order to tackle this problem the service providers are doing their best to address these issues so that organizations can migrate more of their applications on the cloud servers.
